Disruption on the roads as region wakes up to snow | ITV News

The season’s first significant snowfall has been felt across the region with commuters facing disruption on the roads.
Swathes of the North East and North Yorkshire woke up to snow and ice on Wednesday morning (19 November), leaving some routes impassable and causing traffic across the road network.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice for the region which remains in place until 11:59pm tomorrow.
In County Durham, traffic was slow moving at Consett while the A688 at Binchester and the A177 at Coxhoe were among the roads which had to be cleared to become passable.
Residents in Castleside had to shovel snow to get their cars out and the driver of a vehicle which struggled up a bank had to admit defeat after the car was given a push.
Further south, people in Richmond woke up to a heavy scattering of snow.
It was a cold start for people in Richmond on Wednesday morning.
