Tigers pile up 292/4 on Day1

Bangladesh Cricket team piled up 292 for the loss of four wickets on Day1 in the second Test against Ireland Cricket team at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Wednesday. After winning in the coin session, Bangladesh decided to bat first. Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 99 runs. He hit five fours in his 187-ball knock. It was Mushfiqur Rahim’s 100th Test. The spectators could not saw a century from Mushfiqur Rahim as the stipulated 90 overs of the Day 1 came to an end.
If everything goes well the cricket lovers of the country will enjoy the century from Mushfiqur Rahim today.
The Tigers had an auspicious start with two openers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shadman Islam put on together 52 runs in the opening stand before Shadman Islam was trapped leg before wicket by Andy McBrine.
Shadman Islam scored 35 from 44 balls featuring six fours.
After Shadman’s dismissal, Joy and Mominul Haque added together 31 runs for the second wicket partnership before Joy was caught at the mid-off by substitute BJ McCarthy off McBrine when the hosts’ total was 83 for the loss of two wickets.
Joy made 34 from 86 deliveries including two fours.
Second-down Najmul Hossain Shanto (8) was bowled out by McBrine when the home side’s score was 95 for the loss of three wickets.
After Shanto’s departure, Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim contributed together 107 runs in the third wicket stand before Mominul Haque was caught at the second slip by Andrew Balbirnie off McBrine when the Tigers total was 202 runs.
Mominul Haque notched up a superb 63. His 128-ball sedate innings had just one four. It was Mominul Haque’s 24th half-century in Test cricket. After Mominul’s dismissal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das added together 90 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket partnership before the bails were drawn for the first day. Litton Das remained unbeaten with 47 runs. His 86-ball innings was belted with two fours.
McBrine was the only bowler who shone with the cherry. He captured four wickets instead of 82 runs. The second day play will start at 09:30am.
