Kacey Musgraves attended the 2025 ARIA Awards earlier today at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, and if your first reaction to this Georges Hobeika Fall 2025 Couture look was, “What exactly is happening here?” — you’re not alone.

Let me start on a positive note: I don’t hate the look itself. In fact, on a night where several celebs turned up in outfits that felt more costume-party than red carpet, this wasn’t even close to the most bewildering one. The craftsmanship of the corset is gorgeous, and the detailing is undeniably intricate. On the runway I felt the delicate, vintage-inspired charm — almost like the model stepped out of a couture boudoir.
But Kacey’s styling… that’s where my soul starts to ache a little.
The bloomers were one of the sweetest elements on the runway, but the way they’ve been readjusted here makes them look more like knickers. It completely shifts the tone.
As for the René Cavalli Cleo strappy sandals, some might argue they lean a bit passé, but I actually understand the choice. The subtle sparkle and coiled straps echo the embellishment on the corset, so they don’t feel disconnected — just not current.
Overall, this is one of those red carpet moments where the ingredients were strong but the assembly let things down. A few tweaks and this could have been a standout fashion moment.
