Collingwood Adds Four New Players at 2025 AFL Draft

Collingwood has made significant strides in bolstering its lineup by welcoming four new players to the club during the second night of the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft. The new recruits are Tyan Prindable, Sam Swadling, Zac McCarthy, and Angus Anderson, each bringing unique skills to the team.

Tyan Prindable, the first selection for Collingwood, hails from Queensland and is a member of the Brisbane Lions Academy. Known for his left-footed kicking, Prindable has made a mark at the National Championship level, participating in three games for the Allies, where he averaged 19 disposals and 5.7 tackles per game. His versatility allows him to play both inside and outside, enhancing the Pies’ midfield options.

Sam Swadling was the Club’s second selection at pick 37 and is recognized for his exceptional ball skills and kicking accuracy. Representing Western Australia, Swadling showcased his talents four times during the 2025 National Championships and has experience playing at the senior level in the WAFL with four appearances. His experience and skill set promise to make him a valuable asset.

Zac McCarthy, selected at pick 55, comes from the Next Generation Academy and has been a standout for the Oakley Chargers and Victoria Metro in the National Championships. Of Vietnamese heritage, McCarthy adds depth to Collingwood’s burgeoning forward line with his height and youthful exuberance.

Completing Collingwood’s draft night, Angus Anderson was selected at pick 57. As Captain of the Sydney Swans Academy, Anderson has demonstrated leadership qualities and performance on the field. During the 2025 SANFL season, he played 18 games, averaging 20.1 disposals and 4.6 tackles. Notably, he also received the Jack Oatey Medal for best on-field performance in the 2025 Grand Final while playing for Sturt Football Club.

Shane O’Bree, Collingwood’s National Recruiting Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the new additions, stating, “It was an exciting night for our football Club welcoming four new players into the black and white.” He highlighted the diverse talents of the newcomers and their potential to develop within the club’s framework. O’Bree praised Prindable’s impressive clearance work, Swadling’s foot and ball skills, McCarthy’s height in the forward line, and Anderson’s heartfelt approach to the game.

As the club turns its attention to the upcoming 2025 AFL Rookie Draft, set to take place tomorrow at 3:10 PM AEDT, Collingwood’s focus remains on integrating these new players into their system and preparing for the challenges ahead in 2026.
