Flag lowered in recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance

Nov. 20 is the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, a time to remember and honour transgender, nonbinary, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse individuals who lost their lives to transphobic or discriminatory violence.

The Trans flag will be flown at half-mast above University Hall, and other flags on campus will fly lower as well, to mark this solemn observance.

“Today, we honour trans lives, recognize the resilience of trans communities, and reaffirm our responsibility to help create a safer and more inclusive campus,” writes Rusan Lateef, associate director in the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office at McMaster, in a message to the campus community.
