Tri-nation series: Bennett, Evans power Zimbabwe to crushing victory over Sri Lanka

Zimbabwe defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the second match of the Pakistan T20I Tri-Series at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Brian Bennett top-scored for Zimbabwe with 49 runs off 42 balls, while Sikandar Raza contributed 47 from 32 deliveries. Brad Evans added a quick four before being run out. Zimbabwe posted 162 for eight in their 20 overs, with extras accounting for four runs.

In reply, Sri Lanka struggled against disciplined Zimbabwe bowling. Dasun Shanaka scored 34 off 25 balls, but wickets fell at regular intervals. Kusal Perera managed only four, and Pathum Nissanka was dismissed for a duck. The visitors were bowled out for 95, leaving Zimbabwe with a comprehensive victory.

Brad Evans proved instrumental with the ball, taking three wickets for nine runs in his four-over spell. Richard Ngarava captured two wickets, while Graeme Cremer, Ryan Burl, Sikandar Raza, and Tinotenda Maposa each claimed one.

Sri Lanka elected to field after winning the toss, but Zimbabwe’s strong start in the powerplay set the tone for the innings. Zimbabwe reached 100 runs in 12.2 overs and maintained momentum to finish with a commanding total.

The win strengthened Zimbabwe’s position in the tri-series, showcasing both their batting depth and bowling discipline.
