It seems as though Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini have once again broken up—at least that’s the vibe we’re getting from Chase’s Instagram Stories. The Outer Banks actor hopped online and somewhat cryptically wrote “Don’t believe the media. I’m blocked, I did nothing wrong. Sorry. I tried.”
He then posted “I’m sorry for those who believed in us. It is what it is. Onwards and upwards.”
While his posts don’t mention Kelsea by name, they come amid fans thinking her song “Emerald City” is about Chase—specifically about his relationship with Madelyn Cline. The lyrics? “Always liked the color of my eyes ’til I knew she had brown / I’m green / Always liked my naïve innocence ’til I learned she got around / I’m green.”
Chase actually hopped into the comments of Kelsea’s TikTok as fans theorized, writing “These comments are fucking weird. Grow up.”
Reminder that Kelsea and Chase first broke up a few months ago in September, at which point a source told Us Weekly, “They had been arguing a lot recently, and their communication wasn’t great in the last month. They were both traveling so much and trying to juggle everything, and the arguments piled up. Although it’s been a few years, Kelsea is still coming out of a divorce and figuring out what she really wants, and she’s not in a place where she’s going to just settle. Chase understood that, but in the end, they realized they weren’t aligning the way they hoped.”
The pair got back together earlier this month, with another source telling the outlet “Kelsea and Chase are giving their relationship another try. There’s still a lot of love there, so they fell back into it very naturally.”
