CHRISTMAS has come early for McDonald’s customers as it launches its festive menu next week with TEN new items.
We were first to try the menu before it his restaurants on Wednesday November 26.

There’s eight brand-new never-seen-before menu items including dill pickle flavour Grinch McShaker fries, a Cheesy Chicken Stack and a Grumble Pie.
As part of the menu, customers can order “The Grinch Meal’ – which is basically an adult happy meal.
It comes with either with Big Mac, nine chicken McNuggets or McPlant meal, the new Grinch McShaker fries, a drink and pair of Grinch x McDonald’s socks.
Returning for 2025 is The Big Tasty, a burger that’s been dubbed ‘better than a Big Mac’ and the fast-food chain’s best ever.

But the recipe has been tweaked for 2025. Not only can you order as a single or a double, you also have the option to add bacon.
And burger fans will get white cheddar instead of Emmental in their bun.
The other festive offerings include the Frozen Grinch Lemonade, Coconut Latte, Coconut Hot Chocolate, Mischief McFlurry and Choc Brownie McFlurry.
Sun writer Lynsey Hope was given exclusive access to try the new festive menu, which comes to restaurants next Wednesday (November 26) and will be sold for six weeks.
Here, she shares her verdict:
The Grinch Meal
Cost: £9.09 for either the Big Mac, McPlant on 9 McNuggets Meal

Lynsey says: “Essentially a normal meal but with the the Grinch McShaker Fries, which you stick in a bag and sprinkle with a dill and pickle seasoning. To be honest I didn’t think there was anything festive about it and it costs more than the usual Big Mac meal and no one wants an added cost before Christmas. The fries were nice though – and you get a pair of socks.”

The Big Tasty

Cost: £7.99 for a Big Tasty Meal and £9.49 for a Double Big Tasty Meal
Lynsey says: “The Big Tasty is back and it’s just as delicious as I remember with that iconic smoky flavour. The cheddar was rich and creamy and pulled the whole thing together and was a great swap, replacing the emmental cheese in the burger last year. There’s also shredded lettuce instead of square leaves and for an extra 90p you can add bacon. There’s an extra bun layer in the middle and onions and tomatoes. Great that you can order as a double. Super filling and delicious – I’m glad it’s back.”

The Mischief McFlurry

Lynsey says: “Very similar to a usual McFlurry with soft dairy ice cream, festive Smarties, Christmas tress and fruity strawberry sauce. Nothing at all not to like and I loved the festive twist. My kids will lap these up.”

Choccolate Brownie McFlurry

Lynsey says: “A McFlurry with brownie pieces and a drizzle of a chocolate sauce. It had a lovely festive, winter feel and the brownie was well cooked and went down a treat. There’s also a cheaper mini version available for £1.89.”

The Grinch McShaker Fries

These tasted like a bag of sour cream crisps – incredibly more-ishCredit: Darren Fletcher
Lynsey says: “Served in a usual sleeve but you pour them into a bag and shake up with a sachet of dill and pickle seasoning. It tasted like a bag of sour cream crisps. They were incredibly more-ish and I’d finished the bag quickly and felt disappointed when I got to the bottom. I wouldn’t be surprised if a version of these become a permanent fixture at McDonald’s.”

Grumble Pie

Lynsey says: “The green colour didn’t look particularly appetising but it was bright and clearly Grinch-themed. I was nervous to take a bite – but it was ok, very festive, fruity with apple, cranberry and custard inside. I would have liked more fruit but I enjoyed the crispy green pastry.”

Cheesy Chicken Stack

Lynsey says: “This is the real winner on the festive menu. It’s basically a chicken fillet in a crispy, crunchy coating with a layered cheese melt on top. It feels sumptuous and indulgent – like a big brie or Camembert starter. There’s also a lettuce and a tasty chipotle salsa. I’d urge you to try one of these while they’re on sale – it’s special.”

Cheese Melt Dippers with Rich Tomato Dip
Cost: £2.79

Lynsey says: “The crispy coating on these dippers was really nice and the cheese was rich and moreish. The dip was tasty too. There’s only four in the box so they work out around 69p each which I thought was pricey. But they were tasty. There is also a sharing box size available for £7.09.”
Frozen Grinch Lemonade

Lynsey says: “A zesty frozen lemonade finished with a vivid Grinch-green melon swirl – it’s incredibly refreshing and cooling and I really enjoyed it. Loved the taste and it was the perfect antidote after a salty meal. I’d go back to McDonald’s before Christmas – just for this.”

Coconut Latte

Lynsey says: “Like a festive hug in a cup – this latte had a lovely coconut flavour and really warmed the cockles on a cold winters’ night. It’s a great price too – far better value than you’d get at chains like Costa and Starbucks. I’d recommend.”

Lynsey says: “Again, this drink had a lovely coconut flavour that really elevated this hot chocolate above the average coffee shop offering. For a winters’ drink, it’s perfect – like a hug in a cup. I preferred the latte overall but that’s just personal choice. For less than £2.50 it’s a steal.”
