Strictly star arrested on suspicion of rape as new scandal rocks BBC show

A Strictly Come Dancing star has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman after a BBC event. The shocking update comes less than three months after a further BBC star was arrested for an alleged rape. The alleged attack dates back to 2024, which led to the arrest of an unnamed man, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
It is understood that the woman who claims she was assaulted by the star was not a contestant or a professional dancer on the reality show. According to The Sun, the pair met because of the star’s participation in the programme.
The outlet claims that Hertfordshire Police confirmed the arrest last night, adding that the inquiries are still ongoing. The news comes less than three months after another star of the BBC show was arrested for an alleged rape.
The male suspect is also reportedly being questioned by police over allegations involving “non-consensual intimate image abuse,” which is separate from the latest allegations.
A source told the publication: “This is an absolute nightmare for the BBC – a heartbreaking situation. Bosses have done their utmost to steady the ship and make the show as scandal-free as possible, and yet this has happened now.
“The BBC is taking this very seriously and will absolutely offer support to all concerned.” Another insider told the outlet: “The series is due to go ahead as scheduled in 2026, but, of course, safeguarding measures are at the heart of all BBC shows in this current climate. And we will always adapt as necessary.”
It comes after the BBC launched an investigation into alleged drug use by two Strictly stars. The Sun on Sunday reported that the reported cocaine use by the stars – who have not been named – was widely known on the long-running show.
It is understood that the corporation has hired a law firm to assist it in conducting the internal investigation. The BBC stated that it had “clear protocols and policies in place” for addressing serious complaints like this.
The BBC has been under increasing pressure to pause Strictly, which is now in its 23rd series.
