Thunder announce 13-player squad with back-to-back wins in sight

Sydney Thunder have locked in their 13-player squad to face the Brisbane Heat tomorrow night at Allan Border Field.

Thunder have rolled into the sunshine state on a high following yesterday’s dominant nine-wicket win over the Perth Scorchers in front of a home crowd at Drummoyne Oval. Wicketkeeper Tahlia Wilson was named player-of-the-match with an unbeaten 55 runs.

Thunder have made just the one change with England all-rounder Em Arlott replacing Chamari Athapaththu. As per WBBL Guidelines, only three overseas players may be named in a match day squad.

Sydney Thunder Coach Lisa Keightley said:

“It was an incredible effort by the players yesterday to get the win on the board.

“We didn’t field our best and we dropped too many chances but what I liked is their fight to come back in the last 10 overs to restrict the Scorchers to 150. We’ll be looking to improve our fielding performance against the Brisbane Heat.

“It was great that we put a complete batting performance on the board, it shows what a powerful batting line up we have for our upcoming games.

“The inclusion of Em Arlott allows us more options within our squad and gives our bowling unit better balance throughout all phases of the innings. She’s had a great 12 months and I know she’s pumped to play in the WBBL competition.”
