Larry Kestelman’s NBL gets court win against clubs, Hawks to appeal

The National Basketball League will not have to hand over detailed financial information to two of its clubs after a NSW court ruled they had breached their licences by requesting the documents in the first place.
The NBL, which is owned by billionaire Larry Kestelman, has been fighting the Illawarra Hawks and South East Melbourne Phoenix in the NSW Supreme Court for months. The clubs sought access to documents related to the private league’s financial position, licence agreements and distribution of funds after raising concerns about the way the sport is governed.
