Florida deputy killed, others injured in shooting

One Florida deputy was killed and several others were injured Friday in a shooting incident at an upscale gated community, officials told local media.
The gunfire erupted just north of Vero Beach at the Bermuda Club, Vero Beach Mayor John Cotugno told local NBC affiliate WPTV.
The injured deputies were taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in nearby Fort Pierce with police escort, Cotugno said.
Their conditions were not divulged.
Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers is scheduled to hold a news conference at noon where more details about the unfolding situation, including the name of the slain deputy, could be revealed.
Bermuda Club, according to its website, is located on the Orchid barrier island and is comprised of “93 West Indies style single-family homes” that are a short walk from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
