Dragon boy Durin is the star of the show in Genshin Impact’s wintry Luna 3 update, launching in early December

The latest HoYoverse Special Program has brought us big Genshin Impact news. Version Luna 3 has been fully revealed, continuing the Nod-Krai story. The new chapter arrives December 3 across all platforms.

The Moon-Prayer Night is the big in-world festival, marking Dameselette’s final night before she sets off for the moon. The new update, of course, introduces new playable characters, one with an interesting mechanic.

The events of this new chapter take place following Rarcher of Solnari’s defeat. The victory has given way to the Moon-Prayer Night celebrations, which brings various stalls to the Nasha Town, alongside a new souvenir stamp book where you can record your memories.

All is not fine, however, as Alice and Nicole Reeyn come bearing some bad news about phantoms appearing across the Nod-Krai region at Teyvat’s borders. There’s a mystery to be uncovered here, and your journey to do so won’t be a lonely one.

The highly-anticipated Durin is at last the new playable character. A 5-Star Pyro Sword wielder, Durin can switch between two different forms: one lets him deal damage, while the other is best suited to supporting the team.

Durin was once a dragon, you see, who was later given a human body. This is why he’s able to switch forms. The more powerful, Abyssal-infused form can launch major attacks on single targets to boost his own Vaporize and Melt damage, while his support form reduces enemies’ Elemental Resistance and deals AoE Pyro damage.

Durin’s Story Quest will shed more light on that aspect of his life, and completing it earns you a reward for him. Speaking of quests, completing the Archon Quest will grant you 500 Primogems. As a member of Hexenzirkel, Durin and other characters can gain new powers when you complete more quests in Moon-Prayer Night.

All characters connected to the Hexenzirkel can benefit from certain story quests tied to their abilities. This is a big new addition, and will affect Venti, Klee, Albedo, Mona, Razor, Fischl, and Sucrose – all of whom can become Hexerei characters. This ties into the new Hexerei Secret Rite effect, which will trigger when two or more Hexerei characters are present. The effect boosts the entire party’s combat effectiveness.

The other new character in Luna 3 is Jahoda, a 4-Star Anemo Bow wielder who’s great at healing teammates and absorbing Elements, which she can then use to deal damage. The first phase of Luna 3 will feature Durin and Jahoda, alongside the return of Venti. The second phase sees no new character debuts, but does feature the return of Varesa and Xilonen.

There’s more to get excited about in Luna 3, even if you don’t feel like spending most of your time in Nod-Krai. The Soulblazers’ Snowbound Journey event will take you back to Dragonspine, where you’ll find winter-theme minigames appropriate to an update cycle spanning December to January. This is how you can earn the 4-Star Rainbow Serpent’s Rain Bow, too.

Beyond that, you can also look forward to the Miliastra Wonderland UGC module getting new updates. The Wonderland Resource Center is where creators can get and share resources through the editing tool.
