Deepak Chahar’s sister Malti says dad was obsessed with brother’s career, she was ignored; no birthdays celebrations: ‘I sacrificed so much’

Week in and week out, the house of Bigg Boss never fails to give some kind of drama to its fans. Coming fresh off the family week, which again gave a lot of interesting stories, actor Malti Chahar again found herself in the spotlight. The wild-card contestant talked in detail about the kind of household she grew up in, one which was completely obsessed with cricket, due to which Malti found herself often on the back burner.
The actor/content creator was sitting down with competitor Pranit More’s brother when he asked her whether she had any interest in cricket. Shrugging off the question, Malti said that she had the sport dictating every facet of her life while growing up, and she really wants to distance herself from it. She said, “I have had so much cricket around since my childhood. My family, especially my father and brother, have only lived for cricket. They used to walk, sleep and talk cricket. Meri toh baatein hi nahi hoti thi, ki mujhe life mai kya karna hai (No one used to talk about me or about what I wanted to do with my life)?

Elaborating on the kind of hold cricket has had on her life, Malti admitted that the sport has also affected her dating life. “The moment my brother started playing, my father cut all his hair, as if without cricket there is no life. We didn’t used to celebrate birthdays or festivals, and all the concentration was only on cricket. A lot of people ask me, ‘Why don’t you date a cricketer?’ I always tell them, ‘I can’t handle any more cricket in my life.’ I have already sacrificed a lot for my brother, and if I end up doing the same for my husband, when is someone going to sacrifice something for me?” said Malti.
For the uninitiated, Malti is the sister of Indian cricketer Deepak Chahar. He is a right-arm medium-pace bowler who was a key player for IPL team Chennai Super Kings until 2024 before joining Mumbai Indians. He has shone through for India on the international level as well, including his record-breaking performance against Bangladesh in 2019, where he picked up 6 wickets for just 7 runs.
