Break was welcome but it’s back to work for Bulls

After a welcome break from playing a game every three days, Macarthur FC jet off to New Zealand to take on Wellington Phoenix this Saturday in round five of the A-League.

Their Mexican signing, Rafael Duran Martinez, who fronted the media at the team’s training session (pictured above), thinks the break will have done the Bulls the world of good.

“The break has been welcoming; it was necessary for the team, we’ve played a lot of games coming up to the break, which has helped in our recovery,’’ he said.

“This is an important game for us, we need to win to stay in contact with the top teams.’’

After four rounds of the A-League, the Bulls are in eighth spot on the ladder, off the back of one win, a draw and two losses.

Duran was also asked how he had found the A-league so far and how did it compare with the Mexican competition.

“It’s different, it’s faster and more physical, the players are strong here,’’ he said.

“The speed suits my game and I am trying to adapt to other parts of the local game is played – I am very happy.’’

The Mexican centre forward who wears the number 13 for Macarthur, also loves the cowbells, the signature sound of the Bulls.

“It’s good, it means you know we have fans who support us,’’ he said.

A proven goalscorer, he has found the back of the net 87 times in his professional career, representing s number of clubs across Mexico.

The 28 year old also brings a winning pedigree to Campbelltown, having lifted both the Mexican Campeón de Campeones and the Campeones Cup with Tigres UANL.

Saturday’s game with the Nix will kick off 3pm local time here and will be telecast on Paramount.

The following Thursday, November 27, the Bulls host Wofoo Tai Po FC in a return leg of the AFC champions league 2 competition.

On Sunday, November 30, the Bulls host Perth, and then, five days later, on the Friday, December 5, they’re back home again, this time for a blockbuster against Melbourne Victory.
