Rob Edwards has swapped a Championship promotion campaign with Middlesbrough for a Premier League survival scrap with Wolves, who face a difficult fixture at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Former Wolves defender Edwards inherits a side who have just two points from 11 games and they may struggle to add to their tally against Palace.
The Eagles’ only league defeats this term were at Everton, whose winner came in injury-time, and leaders Arsenal, where ex-Palace hero Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the game.
A haul of 17 points is a decent effort given that Palace have had a tough run of league fixtures and are involved in their maiden European campaign.
The underlying data suggests they should be even higher in the table and centre-back Marc Guehi and striker Jean-Philippe Mateta have been passed fit for the trip to Molineux.
Wolves started November with 3-0 defeats at Fulham and Chelsea and, having conceded nine goals in home losses to Everton, Leeds and Burnley, they should be opposed in Edwards’ first game in charge.
