New Mexico State hoops rolls past Samford to 4-0

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX 14, CBS 4) — Julius Mims scored 17 points to lead the New Mexico State Aggies to a 81-72 victory over the Samford Bulldogs at the Pan American Center on Friday.
NMSU moves to 4-0. Samford falls to 3-4.
The Aggies started the game on an 8-2 run. Samford took their first lead when Isaiah Campbell-Finch scored a layup to make it 13-2. With 10:19 remaining in the first half, Kyrese Mullen scored to make it 19-17 Aggies and NMSU never gave up the lead. The Aggies led 40-32 at halftime and would take it 81-72.
NMSU shot 31-57 (54%) from the field and 7-16 (44%) from three-point range. Samford shot 24-60 (40%) from the field and 8-30 (27%) from three.
For NMSU, Mims scored the 17 points and had 11 rebounds.
Jemel Jones had 10 points and 3 rebounds.
Gabe Pickens had 3 points with 7 rebounds and a game high 8 assists.
The Aggies held NMSU’s Jadin Booth to only 3 points. Coming into the night, Booth was sixth in the country in scoring averaging 24.2 point-per-game.
NMSU now heads down to Mexico where they will face UC Irvine on Tuesday in the Cancun Classic.
