Liverpool are set to resume their Premier League campaign against Nottingham Forest this weekend. The Reds will hope to be refreshed by the international break after enduring a dismal recent run of form.

Arne Slot’s team suffered an emphatic 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in their last league outing. It was the latest sign that Liverpool are well below their title-winning form from last season, having lost five of their last six Premier League games.

The Anfield crowd will be required to help the Reds get back to winning ways. Before the defeat to City, there had been some encouraging signs during Liverpool’s home victories against Aston Villa and Real Madrid earlier this month.

Despite their disastrous start to the season, Forest have lost just one of their first five games since Dyche succeeded Ange Postecoglou in October. Here, ECHO Sport provides all the details you need to know ahead of the match.

Team news

Liverpool are set to have goalkeeper Alisson Becker back in the squad against Forest. The Brazilian has been absent since September but Slot was previously hopeful of having Alisson back for selection. However, defender Jeremie Frimpong may still be on the sidelines.

“I expect Jeremie back after the international break because we play from November until March!” Slot said before the international break. “I don’t expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest, but with Alisson, we expect this.”

Liverpool saw Ryan Gravenberch rested for the Netherlands’ second game of the international break, while Alexander Isak played both games for Sweden as he looks to get back to his best. Mohamed Salah was rested for Egypt’s friendly with Cape Verde on Monday.

Young defender Giovanni Leoni remains Liverpool’s only long-term absentee. The 18-year-old suffered an ACL injury against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
