Leeds United set to get second chance to sign £17.6m target as Crystal Palace make decision

Leeds lost out to Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day back in September.

Leeds wanted to sign Christantus Uche from Getafe and provide Daniel Farke with another option in attacking midfield – Wolves were also keen.

However, it was Crystal Palace who eventually won the race for the Nigerian ahead of Leeds, signing him on an initial loan deal which turns into a €20m (£17.6m) move if he makes ten starts.

Christantus Uche is yet to make a single start as we near December, and AS now reveal that the Eagles plan to send him back to Getafe in January.

Crystal Palace ready to send Leeds United target Christantus Uche back to Spain

The Spanish news outlet believe Oliver Glasner has made a final decision on the Nigeria international, and has no plans to keep him for the second half of the season.

Which position do Leeds United need to strengthen most in January?

Uche has played just eight minutes of Premier League football so far this term, and now looks set to be back on the market this winter after Leeds failed to sign him just a matter of weeks ago.

Getafe sound like they would jump at the chance to do business with Leeds United

AS include details which make this sound like a potentially easy deal for Leeds to negotiate in January.

It is said that Getafe have already budgeted for that £17.6m fee they expected from Crystal Palace in their accounts for the financial year.

Furthermore, the Spanish side even registered six players using the money they anticipated to get for Uche.

Therefore, it sounds like Getafe still need to find a buyer for the 22-year-old this winter if Crystal Palace do end up sending him back, having already made several arrangements using that prospective £17.6m fee.

If not, it may send Getafe into financial peril at the end of the season, so it could even be argued that the Spanish side would entertain a sale for slightly less than £17.6m given their desperate situation.
