West Midlands Police have charged five people with a range of offences including conspiracy to murder, after a man was shot in Sutton Coldfield.
The shooting happened near The Lanes Shopping Centre in Wylde Green, at around 7.30am on Friday 24th October.
The victim, in his 30s, was taken to hospital, where his injuries were thankfully found to not be life threatening.
The Major Crime Unit launched an immediate investigation, trawling through CCTV and carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances around what happened, and identify who was responsible.
Following lengthy enquiries, which included working with colleagues from other police forces, five people were arrested and have subsequently been charged as follows:
Kirstie Gavin, 32, charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.
Adrian Hylton, 43, charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Dwaine Patterson, 46, charged with conspiracy to murder.
Terrence Regis, 43, charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Carly Smith, 36, charged with conspiracy to murder.
Having all now appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court, the five were remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing at Birmingham Crown Court next month.
Detective Inspector Stacey Follows, from our Major Crime Unit, said: “These charges are a significant step forward in what has been a complex and demanding investigation.
“Dedicated officers have been working around the clock since this happened, with the aim of making arrests and securing charges against those suspected to be involved, and we’re grateful for the support of police colleagues outside of WMP.
“Our investigation is ongoing, and I would urge anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to us to get in touch”.
