Kingston gears up for tonight’s 21st annual Nighttime Santa Parade

Downtown Kingston will be glowing tonight as the 21st annual Nighttime Santa Parade rolls down Princess Street at 5 p.m., followed by the city’s Tree Lighting Ceremony in Springer Market Square.

This year’s parade is the biggest yet, featuring 102 floats, with roughly a quarter participating for the first time. Sandi Griffiths, Events Manager with the Downtown Kingston BIA, says interest has grown so quickly that organizers had to introduce a waitlist for the first time.

The parade also highlights community giving, with Partners in Mission Food Bank collecting non-perishable donations, Canada Post gathering letters to Santa, and MBC Media and Salvation Army supporting Toy Mountain collecting new, unwrapped toys.
