According to experts, Chery Tiggo 8 is the car of the year thanks to its “versatility, technology and outstanding value”.

Chery, the largest exporter of cars from China for the past 22 years, has launched Tiggo 8 in the UK this summer.

According to Chery, it can travel up to 765 miles on combined power sources, with 56 miles of EV range provided by an 18.4kWh battery.

It also boasts a dual screen, and standard specifications include a panoramic sunroof and adaptive cruise control.

The best part is that Tiggo 8 costs £5,500 less than its rival, Skoda Kodiaq.

The prices for the Chinese SUV start from £28.545 and go up to £36,545.

Mat Watson, Carwow’s chief content officer, said: “The Tiggo 8 is one of those cars that seems almost too good to be true; it’s a premium-feeling SUV with loads of space for seven occupants, a cutting-edge hybrid system, all the luxury kit you could want… yet it costs about the same as a European hatchback.

“If a Chinese car was ever going to conquer the market, it should be this one. It’s unbeatable value and feels like so much more than a budget family bus.”

Chery isn’t the only Chinese manufacturer to claim the prize as Jaecoo was named the brand of the year.

Even though it was only introduced in the UK earlier this year, Watson claimed that it has “taken the market by storm,” and is “already nipping at the heels of the best-sellers”.
