Fresno State comes off consecutive wins, including a rainy 24-3 victory over visiting Wyoming last week, that have the Bulldogs at 4-2 in the Mountain West. Fresno State never trailed against the Cowboys, getting touchdown runs from Bryson Donelson and Johnathan Arceneaux and a scoring pass from Carson Conklin to Josiah Freeman. Rayshon Luke ran for 92 yards on 16 carries as the Bulldogs piled up a season-high 216 yards on the ground while Conklin, making his third straight start, threw for 95 yards. The defense kept Wyoming out of the end zone and limited the Cowboys to 194 yards. Al’zillion Hamilton picked up an interception.
Utah State took a 29-26 double-overtime loss at UNLV last week when the Rebels scored a touchdown on the first play of their second OT possession. The Aggies led 13-3 early in the second quarter before coming back to reclaim the lead on Bryson Barnes’ 58-yard touchdown run with 6:56 remaining. UNLV tied the game on a field goal with 2:18 left. Barnes threw for 256 yards and a touchdown while also picking up 124 yards on 22 carries. Miles Davis also had a scoring run, and Braden Pegan caught eight passes for 109 yards.
In the race for the conference championship game, Fresno State gets in by winning out, so long as Boise State also wins its final two games. The Bulldogs have two straight wins over Utah State, including a 37-32 road win in their last matchup on Oct. 13, 2023, and lead the all-time series 19-13-1.
