AFL player Scott Selwood’s relationship joy with AFLW star Sarah Rowe after tragic loss

AFL player Scott Selwood has confirmed he’s in a relationship with AFLW player Sarah Rowe.

Selwood, 35, and Rowe, 30, shared the happy news in a new photo on Instagram.

The pair were in a photo swimming in the ocean on Rottnest Island, Western Australia with Rowe writing: “Siblings or dating?”

Many shared their well-wishes for the new couple in the comments.

AFLW player Sarah Hosking joked, “Siblings obviously 😍”

AFLW star and Rowe’s Collingwood teammate Ruby Schleicher said the the photo was: “Possibly the hardest launch of all time.”

Triple M Radio star Ryan Warren wrote, “NASA doesn’t even launch this hard!”, with Rowe adding, “What a launch!” with a rocket-ship emoji.

Aussie netball player Nat Butler added, “😍😍 so great seeing you guys!”

“This is a bit too hard, chill out mum and dad,” joked AFLW player and Gaelic footballer Áine McDonagh.

Rowe is a triple-code sportswoman, currently playing association football for Central Coast Mariners and Australian rules football for Collingwood in the AFLW.

She previously played women’s association football for the Republic of Ireland, and has played ladies’ Gaelic football for Mayo.

Selwood currently plays for the Ivanhoe Football Club in the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL).

He joined Collingwood as a development coach in 2019. He comes from a famous footy family, with himself and his three older brothers having played AFL.

He has recently taken a step away from his assistant coaching role for Collingwood after he and his family were rocked by tragedy after his twin older brothers, Adam and Troy Selwood, died by suicide within months of each other.

Adam was a premiership player with the West Coast Eagles, and Troy played six seasons for Brisbane.

Announcing his hiatus, Scott said in a statement: “Twelve years in the system as a player and six as a coach has been some of the best years of my life

“It has been a personally challenging year for me so the timing feels right to take some time for myself away from football.”
