Billy Bob Thornton details major relationship shift in Landman season 2

EXCLUSIVE: Landman star Billy Bob Thornton discusses how relationship dynamics will evolve in season 2.
Landman has returned for season 2 and fans are eager to discover what’s ahead for the characters following the Paramount Plus show’s dramatic season 1 finale.
Created by Taylor Sheridan, Landman stars Hollywood legend Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager or ‘fixer’ for an oil company in West Texas.
The synopsis reads: “Set in the boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern tale of fortune seeking amongst roughnecks and wildcat billionaires – fueling an oil boom so big it’s reshaping the climate, the economy and geopolitics.”
A lot has shifted for Tommy since season 1, as he’s now president of M-Tex Oil. But in an exclusive interview, Thornton disclosed that isn’t the only dynamic that has transformed for Tommy.

In season 1, Tommy frequently clashed with no-nonsense lawyer Rebecca Falcone, played by Kayla Wallace, reports the Express.
When asked if things would be different for Rebecca in season 2, Thornton quipped: “Well, it’s too late for her now; she’s in the fold.
“She’s in the family now so she’s gotta deal with me a little bit. And Kayla Wallace who plays her – she’s such a sweet person.
“It’s hard sometimes […] any time I had to say mean things to Kayla or she had to say them to me… I mean she’s Canadian, so she had to apologise after saying stuff like ‘Are you ok?’
“But yeah, the relationship does soften up some, but we still do have our sparring matches,” he confirmed.
Thornton also opened up about how his character’s relationship with his children, Ainsley (played by Michelle Randolph) and Cooper (portrayed by Jacob Lofland), will evolve in the show’s second season.
He shared: “There’s absolutely more stuff with Cooper. I mean, the first season is honestly just us either ignoring each other or getting in an argument over something.
“This year there’s some of that, but you will get to see how much Tommy loves his kid and his ex wife/wife.”

Thornton also gave fans a sneak peek into what they can expect from the upcoming season, saying: “In terms of characters, you’re going to see a lot more this season of the family dynamic and what’s really at the core of each person.
“Because in the first season, you had Taylor setting up the oil business. We had to explain the oil business, introduce all the characters and all the players in it. And now the audience knows this, so we really get to dive deep.”
The official synopsis for the second season of “Landman” reads: “In Season Two, as oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’s (Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realizes.
“Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble – it’s brutal. And sooner or later something’s got to break.”
Landman season 2 airs weekly on Sundays on Paramount Plus.
