New ‘Now You See Me’ Movie Overtakes Tom Hardy’s $80 Million Spy Thriller at the Box Office

After a strong opening weekend at the box office that saw Woody Harrelson’s new movie take #1, the film has already passed one of Tom Hardy’s most underrated spy thrillers. At the time of writing, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t has grossed $25 million at the domestic box office and $36.7 million internationally for a global total of $61.7 million. This $25 million haul in the U.S. is enough to push the new Now You See Me movie past Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the 2011 spy thriller starring Hardy and Gary Oldman that grossed $24.1 million in America.
In the coming days, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t will look to overtake several other notable movies. Once it earns another few hundred thousand, it will race past Monkey Man, the 2024 action thriller starring and directed by Dev Patel. It will also pass Alex Garland’s legendary sci-fi movie, Ex Machina. Both films are less than $500,000 ahead of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. In addition to Woody Harrelson, the new Now You See Me movie also stars Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Ariana Greenblatt, and The Holdovers breakout Dominic Sessa.
Louis Leterrier directed the first Now You See Me movie, which featured much of the same cast but also had stars like Mark Ruffalo. Jon M. Chu (Wicked) took over directorial duties for Now You See Me 2, which returned most of its stars and even added Harry Potter veteran Daniel Radcliffe. Ruben Fleischer is behind the camera for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t with a script from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool), along with Michael Leslie, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Eric Warren Singer.
Is the New ‘Now You See Me’ Movie on Streaming?
The new Now You See Me movie is not available to watch on streaming. At the time of writing, it’s only playing in movie theaters, and it likely won’t begin its VOD run for at least a few weeks until box office numbers begin to tail off. Now You See Me: Now You Don’t opened at #1 this weekend, even passing other movies such as Glen Powell’s Running Man remake, so Lionsgate has no reason to pull the film from theaters. The first two Now You See Me movies are streaming on Starz and Peacock.
