Delta and Uber Enhance Travel Experience with New SkyMiles Benefits and LaGuardia Drop-Off Pilot Program

Delta Air Lines and Uber have enhanced their collaboration, providing new opportunities for SkyMiles Members to earn rewards while simplifying travel. This strategic partnership, which began in April, is designed to reshape loyalty experiences by merging travel, lifestyle, and technology, as highlighted during its announcement at CES 2025.

Beginning this week, SkyMiles Members can link their accounts through delta.com/uber, enabling them to earn miles automatically on eligible Uber rides and orders. This initiative aims to streamline the travel experience, making it more rewarding for members.

In a significant step forward, Delta and Uber have rolled out a pilot program at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) ahead of the busy holiday season. The new airport drop-off system seeks to minimize congestion while enhancing customer service. Passengers can now choose the “Express Drop Off, Checked-In” option, which allows for drop-off at a designated area. Here, they will receive curbside support, intuitive wayfinding assistance, and a direct route to security. Additionally, passengers will enjoy giveaways during this pilot phase, aimed at improving overall convenience and flow.

Joshua Kaehler, Delta’s managing director of loyalty partnerships, emphasized the importance of partnerships in enhancing customer experiences. “This pilot is a great example of how we’re using partnerships to solve real customer pain points,” he stated, highlighting the intention to redefine the travel experience with increased choices and hospitality.

More than 1.4 million SkyMiles Members have linked their Delta and Uber accounts, signifying the effectiveness of Delta’s strategy to expand loyalty beyond in-flight travel. This collaboration not only rewards members when they travel but also in their everyday lives, whether they are commuting, heading to the airport, or ordering food.

When linked, members earn miles through various Uber services:

  • 3 miles for every dollar spent on Uber Reserve trips.
  • 2 miles for every dollar spent on premium rides like Uber Comfort and Uber Black.
  • 1 mile per dollar spent on airport rides via UberX.
  • 1 mile per dollar spent on Uber Eats orders over $40.

Additionally, for a limited time, SkyMiles Members can access exclusive in-flight offers on Delta Sync Wi-Fi. This includes a discount on their next Uber Reserve ride, enabling seamless travel arrangements directly after landing. The system adjusts reservations in line with flight arrival times, ensuring smooth transitions from arrival to transportation.

This initiative is a prime example of Delta’s commitment to using partnerships to enrich the travel experience. By working with leading brands like Uber, Delta is fostering a lifestyle ecosystem that reflects its dedication to customer convenience and rewards. Members are encouraged to link their accounts now to maximize their earning potential and enhance their travel experiences.
