Ahead of a date with the Patriots, the Bengals are bringing a familiar face back into the fold.

Mike Gesicki was activated off injured reserve on Friday afternoon. The former Patriots pass catcher had been sidelined since Oct. 15 with a pectoral injury, but is expected to play on Sunday.

The 30-year-old tight end spent the 2023 season in New England, catching 29 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Those totals were well below Gesicki’s career averages, but it was a tumultuous year for the Patriots offense with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe splitting time at the helm.

Gesicki signed with the Bengals the following spring and thrived in Cincinnati last year, catching 65 passes for 665 yards from Joe Burrow. With star wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins garnering plenty of attention, Gesicki emerged as another weapon for Burrow in the passing game.
