Strictly’s Dianne Buswell flooded with support as she shares ‘disaster’

Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell has opened up on some of the “smaller things” that were a challenge for her performances with Chris McCausland. The pair won the BBC dancing show last year in an incredible victory, but they faced challenging encounters along the way. Chris was the first blind contestant to appear on the show and both he and Dianne discovered the best way to work together.
However, they still faced challenges, one of which Dianne has now deemed an “almost disaster”. As she won’t be appearing with a partner at the ever-popular Blackpool show this year, the pregnant dancer has reflected on her time last year, declaring that her performance with Chris is a memory that will “last for years”.
Sharing a video of her performance with Chris in the famous ballroom last year, Dianne wrote: “I may not be dancing with a partner in Blackpool this year, but this memory is one that will last for ears to come. Right Chris McCausland, your smile in this dance melts me every time. Our first tens.”
She added: “Also the smallest things for us were always a challenge, if you look closely at the beginning of the dance when we go to take hold, finding each others hand almost became a disaster! Luckily we found each others hand right on time.”
When looking at the clip, you can see Dianne and Chris fumble a little when trying to grab hands before they managed to find themselves; the judges must not have noticed as they scored two tens, an 8 and a 9.
As she shared the clip to her Instagram, people rushed to the comments to praise the beloved pairing as one user wrote: “The best year in all the Strictly shows,” while another said: “I will never get tired of watching this dance, so so special. The best partnership ever.” A third wrote: “Your friendship was evident from the start and I think that made you dance so beautifully together.”
Dianne and Chris went on to win the show, but unfortunately for the 2025 series, she’s had to miss out on the competition due to her partner’s injury. Stefan Dennis suffered a serious calf injury due to dancing and he was forced to withdraw in October.
Dianne shared her support for her partner, but vehemently denied the withdrawal was a “cover up” that she couldn’t perform due to her pregnancy, she fumed that if she needed to withdraw there were multiple other dancers who could have stepped in.
