Scotland records UK’s lowest November temperature in 15 years

Scotland has seen the UK’s lowest November temperature in 15 years after -12.6C was recorded in Tomintoul in Moray.

Freezing temperatures were recorded across the country overnight while a Met Office yellow warning was in place for ice in northern Scotland.

The temperature is the coldest since -18C was recorded in Llysdinam, Wales, in 2010.

More than 30 Aberdeenshire schools have closed due to the weather, and one school is shut in the Highlands. More than 100 were closed across north and north-east Scotland on Thursday.
