Alexandre Texier is set to make up his mind on his new NHL team, and now, Elliotte Friedman believes he’s going to end up with the Montreal Canadiens.
The Montreal Canadiens have faltered as of late, but given their incredibly talented young roster, it’s hard not to be excited about the present and the future of the organization.
Now, it appears as though after a bounce back win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night, they’re ready to bolster this roster as they look to get back to the form that they showed early in the 2025/26 season.
Montreal set to sign Alexandre Texier
Enter, Alexandre Texier, who was officially placed on waivers for the purpose of contract termination on Saturday, with the 26-year old forward free to sign with any NHL team as of today.
Now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed his belie that the Montreal Canadiens are that team that are set to bring in the former Blue Jackets and Blues forward, who has yet to be overly productive in his short NHL career, despite showing his potential back in 2023/24 with 30 points in 78 games played.
While it’s not confirmed, earlier reports revealed that just two Eastern Conference teams were in the race to sign Texier, and given the Canadiens need for experienced depth and bottom-six pieces, Texier is someone that fits that mold perfectly.
Only time will tell whether or not Friedman is right on this one, but if the Canadiens can bring in a player like Texier on the league minimum to add depth to their already talented roster, it’s a no-brainer move that could help them immensely moving forward.
