Social media giants refuse to sign pledge for under-16s ban

Tech platforms covered by the Albanese government’s landmark under-16s social media ban have refused to publish a pledge drafted by the eSafety Commissioner to comply with the laws, prompting speculation they could face legal challenges.
In a sign of how last-minute some of the decisions are for the laws, which come into effect in less than 20 days, the eSafety Commissioner announced on Friday that Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch had been added to the list of age-restricted platforms.
