Thanksgiving Day Starts Short Dry Period

The area is still in a little drought, mainly across the Greenbrier Valley. A severe drought still exists in Northern Pocahontas and Northwestern Greenbrier Counties, while a moderate drought still lingers in the area surrounding that in the beige color. The yellow shade represents the area that is abnormally dry, but not quite in a drought. This is the update from last Thursday, and will definitely improve as we head through this week!

The European and GFS models both have the area receiving some measurable rain, we are going to take a look at the European for this article. Most of our area should receive under an inch of rain and most people should hover around half an inch, with a few places exceeding that, under the heavier showers through Wednesday.

With a 70% chance of showers on Tuesday and a 50% chance those showers will linger into Wednesday, Thursday through Saturday will dry back out. Thanksgiving day will be a cold one, but dry for us! The cool temperatures will continue into Saturday, before we start to slowly warm back up into the 50’s by Sunday while watching another storm system moving through the area bringing yet another shot for rain.
