Luka Doncic: The fastest man in NBA history

Luka Doncic is a record breaker. A player destined to rewrite history and reach the highest peaks of success. It is his daily standard, the routine every time he steps on a basketball court. No matter the jersey or the opponent, records fall under his weight.
Salt Lake City witnessed another of his feats as the Los Angeles Lakers edged the Utah Jazz 108-106. In a nail-biting finish, Doncic poured in 33 points (on 3 of 12 from three-point range), grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists. Those numbers made him the fastest player in NBA history to reach more than 400 points (414) and 100 assists (107) in a season. He accomplished the milestone in just 12 games.
Doncic in top form after a dedicated summer
This achievement is further proof that Doncic is in peak form after a summer of hard work. If he keeps this pace – he might even get there with slightly less – he is a strong candidate to be this season’s regular-season MVP.
And it’s not just about individual stats. Doncic’s performance directly lifts the Lakers, who sit second in the Western Conference at 12-4 after winning four straight games. LeBron James has returned, Austin Reaves is playing at a high level, and the team looks formidable. Against the Jazz, James added 17 points and 8 assists, while Reaves contributed 22 points and 10 rebounds.
A thrilling finish for the Lakers
The victory was far from easy, even with Doncic’s dominance. Unlike their last meeting at the Crypto.com Arena, this game came down to the final minute. Utah staged a furious comeback, outscoring Los Angeles 17-5 in three minutes to go from a 13-point deficit (89-102) to having the ball to win at 106-107, capped by a triple from Lauri Markkanen. The Finnish forward scored 12 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Doncic sank a free throw, and on the next possession, Keyonte George missed Utah’s potential game-winning three over Doncic’s defense. After the game, Doncic expressed relief at having the next four games at home, following six of the last seven on the road in just 15 days.
“Can’t wait! Being at home is great. I can hit the beach and get some sun. But playing in front of my fans is going to be amazing. Can’t wait!” he said in the postgame interview.
