Olly Murs has shut down recent rumours that he plans to retire during an exclusive chat with Hits Radio presenter Sam Thompson. The ‘Dear Darlin” singer spoke to Sam as he arrived for his performance at Hits Radio Live 2025 in Manchester this weekend.

He revealed the rumours circulated after he jokingly told fans in a voice note that his new album ‘Knees Up’ might be his last. He said: “I’m not retiring. There’s this Instagram thing I’m in, like my Murs Army, like my fans.

“And I just did, like, a voice note in there, just like ‘come on guys…album’s out today…this could be the last album. I’m gonna retire’, having a laugh. And somehow it’s been pigeon-holed out of it into the press.”

The news that Olly’s sticking around thrilled fans, who took to Instagram to share their relief ahead of his performance at Manchester’s Co-Op Live on Saturday (22nd November). One wrote: ‘Thank god Olly is not retiring he is a big prankster’, while another called him a ‘cheeky chappy’.

Olly wowed crowds as he took to the stage at the weekend for Hits Radio Live, singing big hits like ‘Troublemaker’ and new fave ‘Save Me’. His eighth album ‘Knees Up’ was released on Friday (21st November) and features popular new songs ‘Bonkers’ and ‘Run This Town’.
