Kings Priory School in Tynemouth, North Tyneside, has been closed suddenly over a “potential critical threat”. The school informed parents of the sudden closure via its ParentMail channel, emphasising that it was a precautionary step.
Parents were advised by the school to stay tuned for further updates and reassured that more information would be provided when suitable.
In an email sent to parents on Sunday evening, Principal Philip Sanderson said: “It is with deep regret, I write to you now to say that due to a potential critical threat, Kings Priory School will need to be closed on Monday, November 24 2025. Of course, I will share when appropriate the details of the situation.”
He added, “I wholly understand the inconvenience this will cause and I will be in touch as soon as possible.”
Coun Lewis Bartoli, deputy leader of the North Tyneside Conservative Group and councillor for Tynemouth, urged: “I’d ask people not to speculate or put any rumours out.”, reports Chronicle Live.
He added, “Whilst the language is concerning, it might not be something to worry about. Let’s wait until we know all the facts.”
