Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez’s Bedroom Temperature Disagreement Leads to Separate Rooms

In a recent podcast discussion, Strictly Come Dancing stars Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez found themselves in a light-hearted disagreement over their bedroom temperature, revealing that Gemma’s biohacking habits have led to some unexpected challenges in their shared space.

Gemma, a 41-year-old actress, has incorporated various biohacks into her nightly routine, including the use of a sauna blanket. Gorka, the Spanish dancer, expressed his discomfort with the elevated heat levels, noting that his ideal sleeping temperature ranges from 18 to 21 degrees Celsius. However, Gemma’s biohacking practices have heated the room to around 26 degrees, making it difficult for Gorka to get a good night’s sleep.

On their Lost in Translation podcast, Gorka elaborated on the situation, explaining how Gemma’s methods affect their shared environment. He detailed a typical night where he settles into bed, equipped with his laptop and glasses, only to find the bed soon radiating heat due to Gemma’s sauna blanket. He humorously remarked, “I’m a person who doesn’t like to sleep in a hot room,” emphasizing his struggles with the elevated temperature created by the red light blanket.

Gemma responded by sharing an amusing anecdote from their bedtime routine. She described an occasion when she was fully equipped with her biohacking gear, including a red light helmet and blue light-blocking glasses, jokingly telling Gorka that he commented she looked like “a corpse on a slab” in her setup. Despite the humorous jab, Gemma acknowledged the impact her practices had on Gorka’s comfort and proposed a solution.

In a compromise, she suggested moving her biohacking routine to a spare room, allowing Gorka to maintain a more comfortable environment for sleep. They even agreed to this arrangement with a handshake, signifying their willingness to adapt and communicate about their needs.

Gemma and Gorka’s relationship blossomed on the set of Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, though they were not paired with each other during the competition. Since then, they have welcomed two children—six-year-old daughter Mia and two-year-old son Thiago—and have continued to support each other in both their personal and professional lives.

As their journey continues, the couple’s charming dynamic and ability to tackle everyday challenges offer a relatable glimpse into their lives, making them a beloved duo among fans. Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to television screens tonight at 6:35 PM on BBC One.
