Brits are set to be faced with even more bad weather just after a cold snap froze parts of the country and brought snow and ice across the UK.
The country has been battered by Storm Claudia and a week of freezing temperatures after an unusually warm and dry start to November, but conditions won’t get better just yet. Strong winds will batter a huge portion of the UK on Sunday – with some areas set to see 50mph winds. This will also be paired with heavy showers with weather maps turning blue, yellow and orange as areas bear the brunt of the low pressure.

While winds of up to 30mph are likely to be felt in the Midlands, the area to be hit hardest by strong gusts is the south of the UK, with more 30mph blasts in southern Wales and 25mph in London.
People in Devon could endure the worst of this weather as places around Plymouth could see gusts reach around 50mph at times.
The actual air temperature will continue to be warmed this weekend, compared to the past few days, but the blustery weather will make it still feel cold outside.
Rain weather maps have turned blue, yellow and orange as these conditions are set to be paired with showers, making this weekend dreary before winter even starts. It will be heaviest across the Midlands, and will be slow to pass.

With ice from this week’s wintry conditions continuing to melt, there is some concern that this rain could lead to flooding. Some alerts are in place, notably for the River Lugg south of Leominster, Herefordshire, where the heavy showers are expected.
