Ruth Langsford seemed to aim a subtle dig at her ex-husband Eamonn Holmes during Monday’s Loose Women.

On the latest show, the panel – comprising of Ruth, 65, Myleene Klass, Brenda Edwards and Sue Cleaver – explored the question of ‘how involved are you in your partner’s health?’

The discussion followed David Cameron’s revelation that he had fought prostate cancer. The 59-year-old former Prime Minister disclosed he had discovered the condition after his wife, Samantha, encouraged him to get tested.

Addressing the former Prime Minister’s health disclosure and the programme’s topic, Myleene, 47, remarked: “It is a known fact that men live longer when they’re married because they have wives, and women live longer when they aren’t married shall we say… you do the maths!”, reports the Express.

Ruth playfully replied: “Good to know!” as she laughed with the audience and her fellow presenters about the prospect of a longer life now that she’s single.

Former This Morning presenters Ruth and Eamonn, 65, stunned the entertainment industry last year when they revealed their separation and impending divorce.

Eamonn has since left the luxurious property he once shared with Ruth, having begun a relationship with relationship expert Katie Alexander, 44.

This follows Ruth’s recent dismissal of viral online speculation suggesting she had reconnected with a childhood sweetheart earlier this month.

As she introduced a discussion about whether you would ‘hard launch’ your relationship, alongside co-presenters GK Barry, Denise Welch and Jane Moore, Ruth gestured towards a large image displayed on a screen behind her – showing what appeared to be a woman standing in a park next to a man.

The headline above it stated: “The full story of heartbreak, closure and a love that came full circle.”

Addressing the panel about the image, a puzzled-looking Ruth remarked: “Apparently I have a new man. According to this article, that’s all over Facebook and I’ve had friends ringing me up.

“Apparently I met this man when we were childhood sweethearts when I grew up in Belfast, which I didn’t, and now it’s come full circle after all these years and we are back together. Terrible, isn’t it?”.

Dismissing the claims of a ‘mystery man’, Ruth clarified that the photograph in question had been created using artificial intelligence and she is still single.

Loose Women continues on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
