The One Show broadcast a brilliant segment on Thursday night revealing the jaw-dropping moment Amanda Holden confronted a fraudster impersonating her over the phone.

In a preview of Monday’s special episode of Scam Interceptors, viewers witnessed Amanda, 54, discovering her identity was being exploited by scammers as she tackled the fraudsters directly.

Scam Interceptors’ producer, Mark, had contacted some of the fraudsters impersonating Amanda, where the fraudsters were attempting to deceive fans into registering for bogus investments, potentially causing them to lose thousands.

After presenting Amanda with a deepfake video of herself created by one of the scammers, which featured an American accent, Amanda exclaimed: “That is so bad!”.

She then described it as “bizarre” since genuine fans would recognise she’s British, questioning: “How would people fall for that?”, reports Wales Online.

The programme then disclosed they had traced a “scamanda” as they challenged the fraudster via telephone.

After the fake Amanda provided them with a number to call, alleging it was their manager, the Scam Interceptors team and the genuine Amanda held a phone conversation with the scammer.

Posing as a bank employee, Amanda joined the call pretending to be a bank worker as she enquired how much the “scamanda’s manager” required, where they claimed they wanted a £3,000 payment immediately and £10,000 in total.

However, in a mic drop moment, Amanda then delivered the bombshell revelation to the scammer that she wasn’t actually a bank employee and she was the real Amanda Holden.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge declared: “Can I let you know my name, sir, so you know who you’re dealing with…

“My name is Amanda Holden, I live in the UK, I know everything about you…” before the call was abruptly ended.

A stunned Amanda exclaimed: “Oh my God!”

But the drama didn’t end there as the fraudster accused the group of using AI to impersonate the real Amanda Holden.

Amanda then sent a voice message to the scammer stating: “This is Amanda Holden. You’ve been using my name as part of a whole scamming investment fund.

“I know where you live, I know everything about you, we work for a programme called Scam Interceptors on BBC. Google it!” she concluded before ending the recording.

The One Show continues on weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
