Marco Jansen entered his name in the history books on Monday (November 24) by becoming the first South African to score a half-century and take a six-wicket haul as well in a Test match against India. The 25-year-old cricketer scored 93 runs from 91 balls for the Temba Bavuma-led side in their first innings on Sunday, and on Monday, during India’s first innings, he picked up six wickets for 48 runs in 19.5 overs.
Jansen opened his wicket account on Monday by dismissing Dhruv Jurel in the morning session, and in the post-tea session, he accounted for the dismissal of Rishabh Pant (7), Nitish Kumar Reddy (10) and Ravindra Jadeja (6). Jansen completed his five-wicket haul in the third session of the third day’s play by removing Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep was caught by Aiden Markram on the fifth ball of the 82nd over after scoring 19 runs from 134 balls.
His sixth wicket came in the form of Jasprit Bumrah. The world No. 1 Test bowler was caught by wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne after scoring 5 runs from 17 balls.
