James Martin appeared on Monday’s episode of Loose Women to discuss his latest publication, James Martin’s Saturday Morning Cookbook: Comforting and Foolproof Recipes for Every Day.
Nevertheless, conversation quickly turned to his popular ITV programme, James Martin’s Saturday Morning, where he launches weekend mornings with mouth-watering dishes alongside fellow culinary experts and famous guests.
Speaking about the programme, James emphasised how the series is recorded at his personal residence, a detail that might surprise some viewers.
James commented: “It’s just a great fun show”, before noting: “It’s the only cookery show where you’ve got dogs running around everywhere!”.
He went on: “We shoot it as live, not live as you guys are, but we don’t have any rehearsal. A lot of people don’t know but I’ve never cooked any of the dishes for 20 years until we press record.”, reports the Express.

James then commended his “amazing” team, explaining: “The nature of it is, we film it in the garage, it’s not a fancy studio, it’s a garage, that’s what it is.”
This led Loose Women panellist Sue Cleaver to observe: “I think a lot of people who watch it, I’ve been on your show, they do think ‘oh it’s not really at his house, is it?’ and I’m like ‘it really is, it really is!'”.
Sue, 62, continued: “It’s such a lovely environment there and the crew you’ve obviously worked with each other for years.”
James Martin’s Saturday Morning is shot at his Hampshire home, featuring a bespoke kitchen in a garage conversion and an outdoor cooking area.

He previously confessed to HELLO! about his preference for filming from home, stating: “People say do you ever miss the live thing? I did live for 25 years. I don’t know whether it’s my age? I think I’m ok at live, but I’ve proved a point.
“Do I want to do live from my house every Saturday? No, because it’s my house. I can film it when I want to film it, when the guests are free, when they want to come down.
“The guests seem to love it. They don’t seem to realise until they get there that it’s at your house. We had Ben Miller down… he didn’t want to leave! Rob Rinder… he came down, didn’t want to go. They love it because it’s different and it’s much more relaxed. I remember kicking Boyzone out at 2am, something like that. It’s a chilled out show.”
Loose Women continues on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
