James Martin drops ITV show bombshell ‘a lot of people don’t know’

James Martin appeared on Monday’s episode of Loose Women to talk about his new book James Martin’s Saturday Morning Cookbook: Comforting and Foolproof Recipes for Every Day.
However, chat soon got onto his hit ITV show, James Martin’s Saturday Morning, where he kicks off Saturday mornings with delicious recipes whilst being joined by fellow chefs and celebrity guests.
Talking about the show, James reiterated how the series is filmed at his own home, a revelation that may leave some fans surprised to learn.
James said: “It’s just a great fun show”, adding: “It’s the only cookery show where you’ve got dogs running around everywhere!”
He continued: “We shoot it as live, not live as you guys are, but we don’t have any rehearsal. A lot of people don’t know but I’ve never cooked any of the dishes for 20 years until we press record.”
James then praised his “amazing” crew, saying: “The nature of it is, we film it in the garage, it’s not a fancy studio, it’s a garage, that’s what it is.”
This prompted Loose Women star, Sue Cleaver, to point out: “I think a lot of people who watch it, I’ve been on your show, they do think ‘oh it’s not really at his house, is it?’ and I’m like ‘it really is, it really is!'”
Sue, 62, added: “It’s such a lovely environment there and the crew you’ve obviously worked with each other for years.”
James Martin’s Saturday Morning is filmed at his home in Hampshire, which includes a bespoke custom-built kitchen in a garage conversion and an outdoor cooking space.
He previously told HELLO! why he prefers filming from his home, admitting: “People say do you ever miss the live thing? I did live for 25 years. I don’t know whether it’s my age? I think I’m ok at live, but I’ve proved a point.
“Do I want to do live from my house every Saturday? No, because it’s my house. I can film it when I want to film it, when the guests are free, when they want to come down.
“The guests seem to love it. They don’t seem to realise until they get there that it’s at your house. We had Ben Miller down… he didn’t want to leave! Rob Rinder… he came down, didn’t want to go. They love it because it’s different and it’s much more relaxed. I remember kicking Boyzone out at 2am, something like that. It’s a chilled out show.”
