Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer’s romance is one that’s unfolded both on and off screen. The couple first met on the set of Stranger Things in 2015, and since then, their relationship has quietly endured the show’s nine-year, five-season run.
Though the two have kept their romance very low-key and private, they’ve shared plenty of moments in the spotlight together over the years—from red-carpet appearances, to fashion week outings, to the occasional Instagram post. And nine years later, their relationship is still going strong.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan U.K., Dyer opens up about her relationship with Heaton and how she handles the public’s interest in it.
“We were colleagues first,” she shares. “It’s a standard, natural thing that would’ve happened either way. We work on the same show—naturally, we would do interviews together and things like that. The weirdest thing about [our relationship] is other people’s perception and reaction to it. Everything else just feels very human.”
The actress also talks about how she struggles with fans being overly interested in her relationship. “Why do people want to know about it? I think it’s a natural instinct to want to know more about the people who are on your screens for hours, about what they’re like in real life. [But] now that I’ve experienced the other side of it…it sounds so cliché, but I’m just a person too,” she says.

February 24, 2020: Charlie opens up about keeping their relationship private.
In an interview with GQ, Heaton explains why he and Dyer prefered to keep their relationship more private in the begining. Heaton says, “We didn’t really know what the relationship was” in the early days of dating in Stranger Things.
Stranger Things co-creator Matt Duffer also comments on Dyer and Heaton’s relationship for the profile. “That first audition, we did a chemistry read with [Heaton and] Natalia, and sparks were flying,” he says.

September 9, 2016: Charlie posts a vacation pic featuring Natalia.
Three months after the first episode of Stranger Things season 1, Heaton posts an Instagram featuring Dyer. The photo is from a vacation Heaton took to Menorca with Dyer and two other friends, and he simply captions it, “Amigos!!” While it seems like it could just be a friend’s trip, mild dating speculation sparks amongst fans.
