Wayne Rooney exposes Leeds United’s biggest issue with one brutal line – Fans won’t like it

Leeds United are under the cosh after a string of poor results, and pundits such as Wayne Rooney are more than happy to stick the knife in at this stage of the season.

The Whites have lost four of their last five games, and while they are still just above the relegation zone, the underlying numbers of their performance suggest that they are likely to get sucked into the bottom three soon.

Daniel Farke is under real pressure to lose his job. The 49ers have backed him to date, but if he doesn’t get better results in the next four games, the German could be shown the door.

Leeds are set to host Aston Villa at Elland Road on Sunday, but one poor result could be one too many for the manager, and he needs his players to step up.

Wayne Rooney exposed Leeds United with one brutal line

At the start of the season, Leeds were getting praised for their fighting qualities. However, as the season has worn on, the flaws in the squad are becoming too big to hide.

The defence is cracking up, and while the midfielder has remained the best aspect of their team, it is failing to cover the gaps left at both ends of the pitch.

Wayne Rooney, during his appearance on the Stick to Football podcast, brutally exposed the biggest problem of the current Leeds team this season with just one line.

He said, “They have been struggling to score.”

Roy Keane and Ian Wright were discussing whether Leeds would score on Sunday, but Rooney jibed in and made it clear what he feels.

Former defender Gary Neville also insisted that he never felt comfortable about Leeds’ chances this season and admitted that they were shocking against Everton on the first day of the season, despite winning the game.

“I said Leeds were going down after watching them in the first game of the season, even though they beat Everton”, he said.

“I thought it was not right that.

“They were so shocking.”

Hard to argue against Rooney

Only Wolves have scored fewer goals than Leeds, and Joe Rodon, a defender, is leading the scoring charts for the Whites in the Premier League this season.

Leeds are not creating enough chances, and their strikers are not clinical enough to convert those chances inside the penalty box.

The Whites needed to add real quality to their forward line last season. However, ended with Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin on free transfers.

They are now paying the price of not spending enough money on strikers while splurging cash on back-up defenders such as James Justin and Sebastiaan Bornauw.
