Woman, 22, Killed In Northridge Was Aspiring Recording Artist

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Police Monday were investigating the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old woman in Northridge that investigators believe could be gang- related.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were called at 1:40 a.m. Saturday to Bryant Street and Tampa Avenue, where witnesses told them two male suspects approached several people who were sitting inside a parked car and shot at the victims several times, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

The victim, later identified as Maria De La Rosa, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The woman was taken to a hospital by private vehicle, according to the LAPD’s Media Relations Section.

According to KTLA, she was a singer known as DELAROSA, who released a song titled “No Me Llames” – in August.

The department could not corroborate media reports that two others were critically injured in the shooting.

No arrests have been made and the motive for the shooting remains unclear, according to the LAPD, whose Valley Bureau Homicide is handling the investigation.
