‘Back to the Future The Musical’ to close in the West End

Based on the 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, Back to the Future The Musical follows teenager Marty McFly who goes back in time to the 1950s thanks to a time-travelling DeLorean.

Back to the Future The Musical will close in the West End after five years at the Adelphi Theatre. After 1913 performances, the run will end on 12 April 2026.

Based on the 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, Back to the Future The Musical follows teenager Marty McFly who goes back in time to the 1950s thanks to a time-travelling DeLorean. Once there, he needs to ensure his parents meet and fall in love to secure his future existence.

Written by Bob Gale, the stage adaptation has music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award winner Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy winner Glen Ballard, and includes classic hit songs such as “The Power of Love” and “Johnny B Goode.”

The rest of the creative team includes director John Rando, set and costume designer Tim Hatley, choreographer Chris Bailey, illusions by Chris Fisher, lighting designer Tim Lutkin and Hugh Vanstone, sound designer Gareth Owen, video designer Finn Ross, musical supervisor and arrangements by Nick Finlow, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook, and dance arrangements by David Chase.

The musical will begin a national tour in the UK in October 2026.
