The 2025–26 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup group stage kicked off this weekend with drama, late goals and convincing statements across all four groups.

Former champions USM Alger and Wydad Casablanca impressed, Olympique de Safi delivered a crucial away win in Bamako, and Stellenbosch left it late in Polokwane to secure victory.

Olympique de Safi and USM Alger both made winning starts to take early control of Group A.

Safi produced one of the most impressive results of the round, earning a composed 1–0 away victory at Djoliba thanks to Salaheddine Errahouli’s well-taken strike on 29 minutes.

The Moroccans absorbed intense second-half pressure to return home with a vital away win.

In Algiers, USM Alger edged a five-goal thriller, beating San Pedro 3–2.

Former African champions Wydad Casablanca began their campaign in ruthless form, defeating debutants Nairobi United 3–0 in Casablanca.

Goals from Ayoub Boucheta, Mohamed Bouchouari and Mohamed Rayhi sealed a statement opening win.

AS Maniema Union joined them on three points after a confident 2–0 victory over Azam FC in Kinshasa.

Christian Panzi opened the scoring, before sub Chadoma Ozome added a second late on.
