Kiffin is expected to make his decision by Saturday, one day after the No. 6 Rebels play Mississippi State in the “Egg Bowl” on Friday.
The openings at Florida and LSU are making the most noise in the SEC coaching carousel this year, but Auburn and Arkansas still have openings. The Tigers are believed to be closing in on Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall.

The national coaching search for the Razorbacks has been relatively quiet since Sam Pittman was fired on Sept. 28. Recently fired Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly has been linked to Arkansas, and could be an interesting hire after he called Ohio State’s offense when the Buckeyes won the national championship in January.
Pete Nakos of On3 reports that another top offensive mind is under consideration by Arkansas.
North Texas head coach Eric Morris is thought to be a “top contender” for the gigs at Oklahoma State and Arkansas.
Nakos noted that Morris’ work with quarterbacks is part of his appeal. He has spent time mentoring Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward.
Freshman quarterback Drew Mestemaker has developed well under Morris at North Texas.
Morris, 40, played wide receiver at Texas Tech. He was the offensive coordinator at Texas Tech when Mahomes played in Lubbock. Morris and then-head coach Kliff Kingsbury helped develop Mahomes into a first-round pick.
Morris left TTU to take the head coaching job at Incarnate Word. He went 24-18 during his time with the Cardinals. He spent one year as the offensive coordinator for Washington State before taking over at North Texas.
Morris is 21-15 as the head coach of the Mean Green during his third season with the school. The program is 10-1 before getting set to finish the regular season against Temple.
