A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in place for Penrith with a storm to hit this afternoon.
The Bureau of Meteorology expects the storm to hit at around 12.40pm.
It may bring large wind gusts and hail.
Rain started falling in Penrith just before 12.30pm.
The storm will come through Penrith and head towards the city with Sydney Airport set to be impacted just after 1pm.
